Everybody knows about Jon Hood but Shaquille Wilson from Christian County is starting to make a splash. From all accounts, he played pretty well at UK's Elite Camp and at 6-3, definitely has D-I potential. He can shoot it and can get to the basket when he wants to.
Another kid is Darnell Davis from Hopkinsville. He's undersized in the post at 6-4, but is such a beast that he makes up for it. He was all-region last season after moving from New Orleans after Katrina.
But I think the one to watch as far as improvment goes is Chuck Jones from Hopkins County Central. Definitely has the look of a big time player, but still has a lot of work to do on his skill set. Has a pretty high ceiling so there is a lot of room to improve. His development certainly bears watching this season. He should get better and better.

I was at Christian County/UHA to watch some teams:
Dawson Springs did not have Scott because of an Injury, but they had another kid, about 6'4, 6'5 maybe in the post, looked solid. Mitchell was his name i guess? His coach kept calling him Mitchell...So i dunno?. But he had tons of rebounds, and scored real well around the basket.
North Hopkins didnt have Hood...but they have some good players to step up.
UHA looked good. Ryan Hudson looked strong. Shot the ball well, rebounded well, ran well. Hes improving alot.
Christian County looked real good. Wilson played fairly well. Improved his shot alot. Ran very well. Christian County is the team to beat.

You're speaking of Wes Mitchell from Dawson Springs. Good player, will be a senior this year. 6-4, plays for Kentucky Elite. Averaged 13 points and 8 boards last season.

Not sure who is looking at Mitchell currently. I'll try to get in touch with him and ask him.
As far as Chuck Jones, the vibe that I got from Elite Camp at UK was that he has the look of a big-time player, but needs to work on his skill set and become a more polished big man to become a legit D-I prospect.

I like Mitchell and Jones both.
But Mitchell is underrated alot because hes shadowed by Scott. Mitchell can play, and has College potential.
Jones doesnt have anybody else on his team that can score. And he is 6'10, while Mitchell is only 6'4.
Big Difference there.

Jones was said to have been the biggest disappointment in the two Kentucky Allstar games featuring the seniors and juniors. Jones logged the fewest minutes and did not provide any D or resistence in the least to the senior interior players. Not a knock on Jones, he DOES have the size and potential. He needs to get stronger and have a tougher mentality to play at that level and at the DII level. As is, he's closer to NAIA than DI.
