Who else? I can now back you up on Jenkins. Had not seen him play before until this past weekend near Cincy. All I can say is he is a gamer. Our 16 under team finished the morning game then Jenkins' AAU team took the court right after us. Jenkins hit from everywhere and even showed some quickness getting the rack. Put up around 35 points. Then played our DS 17s. I only stayed for a half. Jenkins and Phares were guarding each other and I don't think Phares scored in the first half and was told he did finish with 6 or 7 and Jenkins had 20. I do think Phares is tough and I have only seen Jenkins this once and it could be different the next time.

Not as quick to back you up on Jenkins, even though he is much better in AAU than in the regular season.

On that day, Jenkins was by far the best talent on the court which included Macon, Ferguson, and Phares. Jenkins at 6'4 was scoring at will on the shorter guards on the wings and blowing by the post players when they came out. The other team even utilized a diamond and chaser D to stop Jenkins. I have seen Hood much more than I have seen Jenkins so I still give the edge to Hood at this time for Mr. Basketball in 09.

Hood's athleticism is on another planet compared to Jenkins.

Watched Jenkin this weekend at Hoops. They say he has been working hard at his quickness and strength and it showed. He is much quicker than last season.
I agree that he is better in aau than his hs team. They didn't look for him enough when I watched his high school games. Watched both Hood and Jenkins at the LIT and they both had their moments of greatness. I would give the edge to Jenkins right now. Hood is also out with a broken wrist.

Geez guys. I don't know how else to say this. Jenkins can't hold a candle to Hood. I certainly don't want to bash the kid, but he may not even be top 5 in his class. His quickness was sorely lacking last season as well as his athleticism and I'm certain he hasn't made that big of strides in just weeks of off-season workouts.

You're entitled to your opinion. By the way hood isn't even in the 7th region unless he transfering to Louisvile area instead of UHA.

I think Aaron Cosby has the most upside of any young player in the 7th region. He has really improved his ball handles and his outside shooting. He is still growing and is about 6'3'' now. At 6'3'' he really thrives as a shooting guard but he has the athletic ability to play both guard positions. Aaron should really benefit from playing in J-town's uptempo system and may be the top player in the 7th next year..

University of Kentucky commitment Dakotah Euton (photo) has been ranked as the No. 1 college prospct heading into the offseason by recruiting analyst Rick Bolus. The 6-foot-8 Euton, who will play at Scott County next season, will be a junior next season and is tabbed as the best prospect in the state ahead of Madisonville senior-to-be Jon Hood. Junior Chad Jackson, who like Euton is transferring from Rose Hill to Scott County, is No. 3 followed by Jeffersontown junior Aaron Cosby, Manual senior Jacob Jenkins and Manual sophomore Tony Kimbro Jr. Next on the list is Anderson County senior C.J. Penny, senior Garrison Collins, who is expected to transfer from June Buchanan, Christian County junior Shaquille Wilson, Ballard senior Wesley Cox, Scott County senior Richie Phares and Taylor County senior Leonard Macon. Top '09 Prospects 1. Hood 2. Jenkins 3. CJ Penny Top '10 Prospects 1. Euton 2. Jackson 3. Cosby Link: Euton Ranked as Top Prospect

Male has a trio of sophomores that should have breakout years as juniors next year: D'Carlo Hayes (PG), Kevin Glenn (SG), and James Phillasheftzke (SG/SF). They will also have one of better big men in the city in 6'6" Senior-to-be O.J. Bell who stepped in and played really well when Heyman was out of the lineup late in the 07-08 season. J-Town- Aaron Cosby and Jackson Eastern-Delquan Thomas and Chris Dowe Trinity-Josh Sewell Manual- Jacob Jenkins (if he doesn't transfer)

From courier-journal.com:
Aaron Cosby said he's still shaking the rust off his game.
But apparently the Jeffersontown High School junior-to-be has looked sensational on the AAU circuit. Cosby, who sat out last season after transferring from Manual, is playing for the Kentucky HoopStars and had a monster showing at the King James event in Akron, Ohio.
Cosby helped the HoopStars to a 3-2 mark. His best game came on Saturday when he netted 41 points against the Louis Williams Elite team and followed that up with games of 25 and 26 points.
"I just worked out as much as I could (during his time off)," Cosby said. "I had a personal trainer at Hoops and worked out almost every day. I felt better than where I was (before the transfer) this weekend. Once I got comfortable, I felt my game coming back."
It was good timing for his return.
Cosby just last week re-opened his recruiting process. The Class of 2010 guard had committed to UMass but is now looking around. He said Mississippi State, Minnesota, South Carolina and Miami (Ohio) are among the schools showing interest.
But he also noted that Auburn and Mississippi were among the schools watching this weekend and "wanted to know more about me."
Another weekend like that and Cosby will be fielding even more schools.

I think there's a good chance that Cosby could already be playing with a chip on his shoulder, which could be scary for the Seventh Region next season. There's been a lot of chatter about him leaving Manual and going to J'Town and I'm not sure he's happy about it. J'Town's going to be good. Lot of young talent and Cosby just keeps getting better and better.

It will be interesting to see it unfold. I think Chris here will see some definate developments from some other players as team's adjust to seniors graduating and transfers going elsewhere.

He had 28 points in an afternoon game and then netted 33 against the Chicago Express. He's playing for Team Kentucky."http://www.courier-journal.com/blogs/demling/2008/05/adidas-may-classic.htmlAnd there is talk Jenkins may have knotted an offer from Purdue.

I stand by the statement that Jenkins certainly is no Hood. I'll own it though. Jenkins has been playing his butt off this summer, but it's no secret that Jenkins thrives in the AAU and camp circuit. But at the same time, I still stand by some of the things I said. I think his ceiling may be a bit low. But don't get me wrong, I like the kid, great kid, and I wish nothing but the best for him. And by all accounts, he's been playing really, really well.

I think Jenkins will surprise everyone in the numbers he puts up his senior year. All of his teamates will be looking for him and setting screens for him. Who shoots the ball any better? Manual will be a contender in the 7th with a good shot at winning the 7th.
